Using A Cheap Chinese Frame Machine To Fix My Smashed Car Will It Even Work?

What’s going on guys? Welcome back to the channel. In today’s video, we’re not gonna be working on any of the cars inside the shop. Today we’re gonna be doing some framework. Now you might be wondering, where is my frame? Well check this thing out. I was actually looking for some frame machines and I really didn’t want anything too big that would take up a lot of room in the shop.

And I’ve actually been working with VEVOR for quite some time. I’m actually using their air jacks right now to hold that axle in place. And I was surfing their website and I noticed that they have a frame on machine there and I was like, you know what? That would work great in my shop because I don’t have a lot of space in here and I don’t really wanna take up an entire bay just for a frame machine cause I really don’t do much frame at the moment. I literally just do couple poles here and there. But check this thing out is basically one little bar that goes underneath the car, and some clamps to clamp the, frame machine to the car. And I’m actually really excited to start using this thing because as you guys know, we do have a car outside that needs some framework.

So here’s one of the cars that actually needs some framework. This is my 2018 Nissan Sentra, and it kind of looks like it was hit by a train. It’s just absolutely destroyed on this side. And the center pillar needs to get pulled out so we can get all this stuff replaced. And instead of taking it to the other shop, I was like, you know what, I’m gonna check out some frame machines.

And I have found the VEVOR one and honestly I think it’s gonna get the job done perfectly. So let’s go back inside the shop and get that thing assembled so we can get this cart on that frame machine.

Assembling the VEVOR Frame Machine

We’re back inside the shop. Now let’s go ahead and assemble this frame machine. It looks pretty self-explanatory, we have two clamps right here. I’m guessing these two clamps, go on that bar, right. That center bar will go through there. Clamp on her there. And then I think there is some rolling wheels, so we can roll this thing around. And then we have a bag of goodies right there. I think that’s a couple of the clamps.

We also have this nice clamp right here. This is gonna be perfect for pulling out that side post. Let’s go ahead and get this entire frame machine assembled, and then we can pull the car in and hopefully do some pull.

So check it out. We got the entire frame machine, basically all assembled, and I gotta say, this thing is looking good. Honestly, I was looking at all the welds and for being in such a budget frame machine, this thing looks absolutely incredible. Check that out. Everything is welded solid now. These two are the clamps that are gonna clamp onto the pitch, on the side. Then we also went ahead and assembled this cart right here and check out what everything came with. I mean, we got all the clamps that we possibly need. We have a nice strap, then we have a metal strap, and then we have some bigger, clamps right here as like to pull out that tower. That is exactly what we’re gonna need.

So now let’s go ahead and pull one that Nissan Sentra and get it on this frame machine.

So we got the core inside, and I gotta say it does look a lot worse inside the shop when the sun’s not beaming down on it. Got punched pretty hard right there. But now what we’re gonna do is go ahead and get this car situated on this frame machine and then we can do a little bit of poles and start pulling out this door so we can get it unlatched.

So let’s go ahead and get this thing, slide it under there and clamp it all down.

Testing the VEVOR Frame Machine

So we got everything set up on this machine. Now let’s go ahead and give it a little test pull and see how this thing actually works.

Man, that is pretty cool right there. So basically just use the hydraulic ram to pull it out. And I’m guessing we’re gonna wrap the chain somehow around these little, things right here. And that’s how you set the distance for the chain. So let’s go ahead and grab one of our chains. Set it up right here and do a little bit of poles on this door and try to get it open.

And this thing is super easy to use simply to adjust the boom. You basically just pull this lever right here and you can put it anywhere you want.

So I’m not too sure how to use this frame machine just yet, but basically what I did was just wrap this chain around and then there’s this smaller chain with double hooks. Got it hooked up like that. And then I have this nice little strap in there, and we’re gonna try to pull out that center bar right there on the door.

And let’s see how this thing pulls out.

Dang, this thing has some pulling power. It just ripped that door clean open with no effort at all. Now we can have some access. To get inside here and see exactly what’s going on. I think one of the cables just snapped, and that’s why the door doesn’t open. But man, I’m super impressed with how this thing just pulled that door completely out with no effort at all.

So let’s go ahead and do a little bit more cutting and get this door completely off the car.

So guys, take it out. We got the entire door pulled out and I gotta say, I’m loving the way you pull with this frame machine. The cool thing about this is it’s so easy to connect. I remember at the other shop, Even for like very slight poles, it would take so much to set it up, you have to break your back moving a big old tower, but this tiny little tower works out perfectly.

Now that we got the door open, we’re gonna go ahead and strip down this entire interior. Basically get these two doors completely off the car. And I’m pretty sure I’m gonna go ahead and take out this, passenger seat right here and pull this car back so we can see exactly how bad this damage is.

So we got pretty much everything disassembled on the car, and honestly, it’s not as bad as I thought it was. As you can see inside, it kind of just bent this area right here, but it did not bend any of the floor or any of the structural stuff. Well, it did bend this structural side frame rail, but we will be replacing all that.

Now it’s time to go ahead and put this frame machine to real use and see exactly what this thing got. I want to go ahead and start pulling this center post out cuz that’s really where the main damage is right here and right here. So we’re gonna go ahead and do a little bit of pulling. Try to pull this center post out.

See how it starts coming out with this frame machine. Hopefully it doesn’t snap in half. But honestly, I have some faith in this thing, just judging by how all the welds and how everything looks on this frame. So let’s go ahead and grab some clamps and start pulling out that center section.

So check it out. We did our first pull right here in the door Pillar, and I gotta say, this thing is a beast that simply just pulled it out, didn’t even struggle or anything like that. I think that’s as far as we’re gonna pull it. I really just wanted to get the main section of that pulled out and then we’ll start doing some cutting, trimming stuff down and start figuring out how we’re gonna do our swap. And now I really wanna go ahead and pull this bottom section right here. You can see this is kind of all crunched in right there. There’s a little bit of water too in there. It’d be nice to wash your hands in there. But what I’m gonna do right now is we’re gonna do a little bit of cutting and basically cut the skin off right here so we can get access into this area.

Cause you can see. That’s where like the main impact is right there. So let’s grab the grinder and let’s cut it open and see what’s going on under there.

So check that out guys. We got the entire outer skin cut off and then I also went ahead and cut a nice little window into here so that way we can get our nice, bigger clamp. As you can see right here, we’re gonna slide this clamp in here, hook it up right there, and start pulling out this main area, cuz this is exactly where the impact hit right here.

That’s what we want to get pulled back into factory specs. So let’s get to pulling.

So we got everything nice and pulled out. And I gotta say this frame machine is a little beast. For being so smashed in. Now, you can see this area is pretty much all pulled out. We’ll probably do a little bit more pulling after we cut off some of this,  material out here, cuz usually it’s a lot harder to pull when everything is still intact.

But once we start cutting into it, start taking off the top layers, getting deeper into it, we’ll be able to finish pulling everything that we need. Now what we’re gonna do is go ahead and basically cut every piece of metal off the car that we do not need. For instance, we’re probably gonna trim this down probably somewhere around here,  and then same thing with the back section. Cut it like right there. Take the outer skin off and then we’ll start removing the inner skin.

So checking out guys, we’ve got most of the skin removed,  and I do need to go to the store and grab some more belts for my belt sander so we can remove the bottom skin down there. And we are gonna be replacing this piece right here. This is the structural rail that goes all the way across. We’re gonna replace the outside one, and I think we’re gonna go ahead and replace the inside one, cuz it’s kind of beat up and I’d rather just replace it instead of start straightening it.

But it’s looking pretty good and it is getting kind of late.  we kind of had a slow start today. I think I started on this car around,  two o’clock and we’ve made some pretty good progress. Tomorrow we’re gonna grab the belt, Sanders, finish all that off, rip off all that metal and I will have to take off this passenger side fender because as you can see this piece in the back, it goes all the way back there and in the front, I think it goes a little bit further and I think it might even go underneath the Hinch pillar. So I have to get all that taken apart. And I do have an entire parts car, so I have all these parts available actually in the back of my shop. But  anyways, I’ll catch you guys tomorrow. So guys, it’s the next day here at the shop and we got a lot of work done last night.

As you can see, we got the entire outer skin almost fully removed . And now it exposes the damaged parts right here. So we are gonna have to replace this entire Hinch pillar also because it is just completely destroyed right there. And I did drill a hole in there just to get it pulled out. But what I’m gonna do right now is we’re gonna go ahead and do a couple more pulls.

I wanna pull this section out right here a little bit more. And probably pull out this back section a little bit right here just to make sure everything’s kind of back in its position before we cut any of the structural pieces off the car.

So checking out guys, we got everything pulled out on this cart and all this stuff right here is ready to be cut off and we’ll be able to put the new piece on. Well, we’re not gonna do that today’s episode, but I do have to say this frame machine is one of the best frames I’ve used in quite some time, especially from coming from my dad’s shop.

I remember we had that big frame. And it was just such a hassle to use. You have to move the big old tower, which always broke your back. But this thing super easy has this little boom that goes up and down and you can pull basically anywhere you want. If you move this all the way down, you can pull all the way over there.

Final Words

And man, I gotta say, I am impressed with this thing for being only $1,800. It comes with an entire frame machine, air jack, and basically every accessory you need to pull frame, which is an absolute killer of a deal. And not only that, this thing is super compact. You can literally take this thing apart in about 20 minutes and store it right in your corner of your shop, corner of your house.
