Replacing old single speed pump, arrived quickly well packaged, when opened was wet both inside and outside of bag pump was in within the box, apparently the pumps are wet tested at the factory and this was watdp not emptied out of the unit post testing. Easy to fit though wiring instructions not the greatest but customer help were responsive and quickly sent a video showing correct wiring. Fitted easily and operates as should on 10000 gallon in ground pool, struggles to prime on low speed if jandy valve not set just right . Low speed saves fortune on power over old pump of similar size.
The high/low speed switch seems to be reversed with low being 2 and high 1 but doesn't affect operation. All in all seems like decent quality, easy to install once wiring is sorted operates well with low noise. Can't speak about longevity but for price looking good.
I set this up in a 17000 gallon pool. I used 3 450 watt bifacial panels in series and it works great. The pump does have a little noise to it, but I see to be the only one who notices it. I got it on sale but definitely worth it. The pump runs anytime the sun is out which is a whole lot more then when it was programed to with my variable speed pump. The pump runs completely off the grid saving lots of money. Be aware if the sun is not out running the pump and you are cleaning filters you have to wait for the sun to see if the pump is cavitating and be able to bleed out any air. Leaving the original grid tie pump in the system is a good move as well for maintenance on cloudy days or back up.
This pump is very quiet and setup was pretty easy
The only problem I had was the connection of 220 voltage supply. The instructions didn't cover that clearly so I had to surf the internet to find the correct wiring connections
For some background, I'm in the pool industry so I've swapped out a few pool pumps through the years but never any Solar powered pumps. I had a leak and faulty motor on my own pool and figured it was time to just give one of these a try and see how it worked. I replaced a 1.6 HP AC pump with this listed as 1.6 HP pump. Out of the box mine had a little damage mainly to the motor cover and fan but after reaching out to Vevor on Amazon they're sending the parts to fix that so that's great service. With enough hot glue I was able to modify my broken cover well enough to use it until I get the new one. Installation only took a few minutes of cutting and gluing a few PVC fittings and pipe, it's all standard 2\" pipe size. The wire from the motor to the controller was a little bit short but they include instruction and heat shrink to add length if you need. Honestly you could just go get a 3 wire cord, open the top on the motor cover and swap the whole wire to whatever length you need, easy breezy. As for solar, I have 12 -100 watt panels just lying horizontal on uni-strut over my pool enclosure. I wired each 3 of these panel in series and each 3 of those banks into parallel for a total of 4 -36 volt banks. I then ran the main +/- wires directly to the MPPT controller and the pump immediately spun up when I flipped the switch. You can certainly hear the pump ramp up or down depending on the intensity of sun on the panels. Based on my panels not being optimized at all to point at the sun I might end up adding another 3 or 6 panels... not having a flow meter installed, because of course an actual pool guy wouldn't =), I need to probably install one and find the flow rate to see if I'm getting like for like from my old pump. It's still early days here and if there's one thing I know about pool pumps is that they begin to fail the minute you install them. I figure if you get a year or two out of it you've more than paid for this in electricity savings alone. I've basically r
This thing is awesome or the price tag that is a huge blessing. The Hayward we had was very powerful and would pop the water line on our pool slide. This thing seems to be just the right amount of power and gallons per minute for what I need.
