I bought this ladder to carry with me when we travel in our fifth wheel RV. When collapsed, it fits nicely in our basement storage area. It isn't light, but it is certainly portable enough. When fully extended, it is a good height to reach to roof of my RV. The extension mechanism works nicely, both when extending and when retracting. You have to watch that your fingers aren't in the way when retracting, because it will move fast when collapsing. There is some flexibility when fully extended that some might find disconcerting, but it was not an issue for me. Although not in my original plans for the ladder, I also found it very useful as a step ladder to make it easy to get up to the first step of the permanent ladder attached to the RV. That turned out to be a bonus. I use it primarily to access the tops of the slides for cleaning when it is time to bring them in. I also found it useful when lubricating my slide mechanisms and treating the rubber seals at the higher elevations I couldn't reach from the ground. I certainly recommend it for similar functions.
