I just bought the crane scale SF918 from home depot I just read the technical manual that came with the unit Right out of the box there is no mention on installing the batteries and there is no mention of what to do with the two black rubber washers Why? should we guess
Answer This Question
To remove the battery, you need to use a screwdriver to open the two screws on the back of the product. The black rubber gasket is installed at this position to limit and buffer. please see the picture for reference: https://we.tl/t-3K6UEojfGO.

Impressed!
Rugged device. Much more useful than the flimsy fish scale that I had before, and cost only $10 more. I tested it at various weights and found it to very reliable, well over 99%. I don't have a way to measure accuracy. Display is easy to read from different angles. Hardware (hook and hanging shackle) are very robust, but a bit cumbersome and probably oversized for its 600 lb capacity. The built-in tape measurer is superfluous and I doubt that I'll find much use for it. I would purchase again and would recommend to others.

Made for fish; has a tape measure built into the side. The use of stainless in a lifting device is kind of startling until you remember, again, it's made for fish. I feel confident the size of hooks included won't fail anywhere near the rated load. The display is enormous. If you have vision problems, as I do, this is nice. I dunno about battery life, but it shuts itself off right quick - too quick IMNSHO. For my small shop and my small, cheap hoist on a DIY hoisting cart -- it'll do juuust fine.
