There's more than a few of these Variacs (by different names) around, but this was the only one I found that had the digital volt meter. The unit works very well... just as a variac should. The digital volt meter is very accurate from 0-50v and above that it's +/- about 2 volts (as per my Fluke 87 DMM).For this price the value is great, I've had variacs before and this one is on par with ones costing much more.

Used this for my tube amp and it gives you that but sag like EVH and takes away a little edge from amp also lets me control the voltage coming into my amp from circuits that are over 120. Highly recommend.

I like these Variable transformers the only issues I had was that it was fused and not using a circuit breaker instead. So I always had to replace the fuse if overloaded it. Now I got that fixed and I love it! Digital display could be a bit more accurate but it’s okay.

I’m glad I bought this unit as the outlet voltage was 127 volts and that is hard on electronic tube or solid state equipment. I have a lot of money in amps and test equipment that I need to take care of. It’s a great way to protect your things!

The unit I received has these accuracy characteristics: [at low end +5V, accurate around 114V, and at high end -2V]. They're probably just feeding an ADC with a potentiometer or rheostat coupled to the main shaft, and not actually measuring any output voltage, this gets you a rough ball-park figure or a semi-accurate one depending on the position of the knob. Decent packaging. Comes with no literature. Be warned: other reviewers say the chassis is NOT grounded!
