The bolts don't fit the bottom base plate,the holes are pre ut too small. You guys should test fit everything before it's shipped unless you have the dimensions preprogrammed to be cut that way. If so, you guys need to reset them slightly bigger on the bottom plate and add washers for extra strength. Your name is on the line. But now w days no one cares, it's all about the money. It'll be a shame to send it back to get the same thing. So I guess I'll have to alter it slightly to make the bolts fit. I'll let you guys know how it works with the extra added steps. Also, align the holes equally horizontally so the top plate may be even.

Ok, we have to be honest. This product is basic and not perfectly engineered…but it was easy to assemble and definitely feels safe. As for the assembly reviews that I read from others… I’m not sure if they’ve corrected all the issues or if I just got a good batch, but the I got two different sizes of bolts that perfectly matched the holes. I think a couple of lock washers were in order but I can add those for a few cents from the local hardware store. As for the ‘basic’ comment. The chain assembly makes no sense. I’ll use the chains to keep the rods with device, but the coder pins are plenty sufficient to keep the rods in place. I’m not messing with adding a ring on both sides every time. Also, the holes aren’t even drilled properly to use all three rods, but two feels safe and sufficient. Over all. I’m happy with the device. Of course my step ladder is 1” too wide so I do wish it was a little wider, but it’ll do. Assembled in ~10 min.

very good product, used it a coup-le of times in my basement stairwell stable strong base never moved. I am not a small person so it held my weight and the ladder weight no problem. I would recommend this item.

This is a Great rig. I needed it for high walls to hang some picture right above a staircase. It worked perfect. I used some C clamps to affix it to the railing just for safety. It a must have for high walls for a ladder on a stairway. Great Product, Great Price and Fast Shipping.

Needed this for a rather precarious hallway project. Purchased as in good condition from the Amazon warehouse. Item was in general as described but parts were again missing (Cotter pins, parts chain and key rings). Extremely stable solution. I felt very safe getting the job done.

My only issue was that our stairs turn to the side half way down but that is the fault of our builder, not this item. I didn't feel comfortable climbing up without my husband keeping the ladder steady but I'm sure that's just me. I was really happy to find this solution and I'm sure it will come in handy for many years to come.
