Building out a 14 foot Boston Whaler to use as our commuter boat and chose this steering kit. It comes with everything needed to have remote steering installed in an afternoon. The components are all well made and look likely to hold up well to the marine environment. The instructions are lacking, but the installation was handled by our mechanic, so not an issue for us. On a larger motor, I would likely go with a hydraulic system, but as this boat has a thirty-horsepower Suzuki, there isn't much of an advantage to hydraulic. Simple, mechanical is the way to go.

This marine steering system kit works great. I used it to replace the old steering system on my boat, and I can clearly feel that the steering wheel is no longer so heavy. The replacement and installation were not complicated, and it came with a manual. I set it up myself in just over half an hour.

Easy to install and functionally equivalent to other manufacturers. Instructions were small print and not very useful, however the product is intuitively easy to work with. while I do not know the manufacturer of my old (failed) steering system, I can say from experience that this one is higher quality and of superior design.

I converted my pully system aluminum boat over to this contemporary style and it was very straightforward. It works flawlessly with my 20hp Mercury outboard. I would recommend this product. My only advice is not to tighten the nut that goes in the center of the steering wheel to hold on the wheel. If you tighten it too much, there is too much friction and it grinds the plastic. So adjusting that was crucial in order to easily steer the boat.

Good value for your money

I have a 16’2” boat I did think it would bend a slight bit more, I had to cut out some fiberglass to make it fit. Not sure if it was short just a few inches or not. But I’ve been using for a year, no issues. I did upgrade the steering wheel to a stainless version
