Perfect to prevent pipes freezing in unheated crawl space
This heat tape has been great to prevent pipes from freezing in the unheated crawl space underneath my house. I live in a cold climate and heat tape is a must-have item if you have water pipes under your floor, as I do. However, please be aware that the heat tape really needs to have a layer of insulation on top of it in order to work most effectively. Long lengths of heat tape can be a bit of a pain to install in a crawl space that is pretty shallow, but that's the fault of my crawl space, not the heat tape! The indicator light on the plug is a handy feature if you have the heat tape plugged in where it's visible, but I'm not sure about the utility of such a light with the heat tape plugged in under my house, since my crawl space isn't readily accessible. It seems like the plug light would be more useful if you're using the heat tape in an unheated basement or some other application where walking around and checking on it is easier. This heat tape appears to be thick and durable, but only time will tell if it will be susceptible to rodent damage or other problems.

No frozen pipe this year
This was pretty easy to use, a little difficult wrapping in cramped areas though. As another stated, it does turn on before it is needed but better early than late.

Self Regulating pipe cable.
I got this to wrap my hoses this winter for the animals. I didn't read it closely enough to see that it won't work on hoses that you need to wrap it on your pipes. It is a very nice cable and easy to install when you have your pipes and not hoses. Should last for many seasons.

Worked for my needs
This was used to wrap my exposed grey tank pipes on my RV. This kept the line from freezing like it had before. Covered it with insulating tape and no issues leaving it on while traveling.

Works well!
Had a cold spell and had our well freeze even with water trickling. This was an easy and great fix!

As advertised.
As advertised. Comes with one roll of adhesive tape to help attach the heat tape to the pipe.

no frozen pipes
In the past we have had issues with our sump pump discharge freezing the pipe, so we got this to prevent that. It supposedly has a thermostat that only turns on as needed, but there is no way to tell if this claim is true. Our pipe hasn't frozen but can't totally say it is because of this. I wish there was a way to tell when it is on or off

Works great!
This is a very nice product. It works exactly as it is described and is easy to install. It seems to be quality made and it feels like it is built to last. I have had no problems with it, and have no problem recommending this product.

Frozen water
As yet i have not had frozen water in my horse stables since i wired my stand pipe with this wire heater. The temperature has been down s low as 5*F. And as far as cost to run it, the speed of my electric meter does not move any more or less when its on or off.

Effective
I was a little hung up deciding between 4 and 5 stars for this heat tape. For what it is, it works very well and I love the length and the value of this tape, but it's not rated for the same kind of cold that the other tape I have is rated for and it's a bit less flexible. Now with those two things taken into consideration- it works well and for the most part, the temperature rating on this will work in most situations. I just happen to live in an arctic region that has about 3 weeks out of the year where it gets below the 0F rating. So using this is more for a fix than for a semi-permanent installation so I'm not risking cracking it.Heat tapes are one of the safest ways to thaw pipes. So used within it's limits, it's not a fire hazard.
