Nicely finished for outdoor use
Installed by my HVAC contractor who selected this model for the outside unit. The exposed drainpipe and proximity to an outlet made the install straightforward.

Running water below 0°!
I have an off grid water system so my containment unit is above ground and I have been really worried about it freezing this year but it is -2 right now and I have not had a single problem with it.

Vevor Self Regulating Pipe Cable - Easy And Effective
This Vevor self regulating pipe cable is very effective and it has a few features that are different than the norm. And it's also easy to use, working in a standard 110 outlet. I have used a few different brands and I still need to do a little more research on how the thermostat works. But overall I am pretty pleased. For starters, getting this on your pipes is as simple as using 2 sided tape or some kind of foil wrap tape and just wrapping it around your pipes. The most difficult thing about the installation is making sure you have judged correctly as it pertains to the length you need. These can get pretty expensive as you get longer. But once you have it wrapped and taped, the last thing you have to do is just plug it into an outlet. The plug is clear and includes an LED light so you can see when you have a good power connection. This specific one has a self contained thermostat that is supposed to turn itself on when it gets cold enough. In my case I only installed it after we were already in the throws of winter. So it's difficult to know if it will really turn itself off when it gets warmer. But I guess we will see.In terms of value, these cables are all expensive. I have found that these online are more reasonable than at the big box retailers and by a lot. So in that sense they are also a no brainer. And the ones I have gotten from the big box retailers didn't have the built-in thermostats or the light up plugs.CONCLUSIONThis is a great product to help to protect your plumbing in winter climates. I will update this once I have seen how well they work through the whole season.

Works well; instructions could be better.
Living in Maine with an unheated crawlspace under my house, freezing pipes can be a problem. This pipe-heating cable has done the job so far this winter, so that's great. One of the plusses of this product is the thorough and mostly-well-written manual, which uses a chart to tell you how much cable you'll need for certain lengths of pipe under certain temperature conditions. There are some flubs in the English of the manual, and also one confusing part of the chart: A caption to the chart refers to sections of the chart where the cable can be run straight along the pipe rather than coiled around it, but in fact there aren't any parts of the chart where the cable doesn't have to be coiled. That error made me wonder just how reliable the manual is in general, but in the end everything seems to be working as expected.

A must have
This is a must have for people that live in cold weather like snow. This 5 foot is perfect for wrapping water line to an Rv. It’s durable, and well made. Easy to install.

Quality cable
I got this for the winter. I have trouble with my pipes freezing at times. Fortunately it hasn't stayed crazy cold here this winter yet, but I got this cable as a precaution. I have not installed this yet, as I'm still trying to figure out how to get to my pipes. The cable is for behind my shower, which is a super small space and I don't want to tear down walls. The cable appears to be quality. It is thick. All parts came in the package. I will update once I've been able to install this.

Worked great during recent ice storm
The timing on receiving this product couldn't have been any more perfect, arriving two days in advance of our fairly epic ice storm.Because my very small house doesn't have room to accommodate them, I have my washer and dryer in an outdoor shed, and there's always the risk of them freezing when it gets this cold. I tried a similar product last year and it didn't seem to perform very reliably — I ended up bringing in a space heater to supplement, and those always make me nervous. This year I wanted something a bit more trustworthy — and the included tape was a welcome addition. The gauge on this one is also thicker than the other one I had, and seems to be of higher quality. I also really like how the transparent plug has a thin filament of glowing red when it's plugged in, giving you a way to visually verify the current is flowing.I wrapped them around the water hoses of my washer and dryer, and since the cable with generously sized, I wrapped around the bottom of the machines, too, in case water collects there. I noticed the heat kicking in almost immediately, because it was below freezing when I installed them. When temperatures drop even further, I checked again and they were still going strong. Nothing in my laundry room froze except the liquid soap! These are a great way to get added security against frozen pipes in inclement weather.
