Great Slicer and price.
Saves me a lot of work in the kitchen. Shaves meat good for stir fries etc. When you receive your slicer, check all nuts and bolts. There were a few loose on my slicer, but other than that, I recommend this product.

A must have
Used these back in my restuarant working days, now I have one in my home and I absolutely love it. I now slice my own lunchmeat, saving me a ton of money and it has much better flavor than prepackaged foods.

Works great. The only thing missing is a tray for the back to catch the sliced goods.

Thumbs up
The slicer was delivered in good condition, on time and only took a short while to clean and get ready to use. Overall, the unit is a very good value. I did have to take a little time to fine tune the positioning of some of the interacting parts. As far as the cleaning, it does take a few extra minutes to take the blade off to thoroughly clean. The slicer had plenty of power to slice the slightly frozen bacon I had made. The blade also needed to be sharpened a little finer prior to doing this. I was able to slice cheese without much trouble. I just had to periodically wipe the blade clean. I see people write about slicing bread. My wife makes homemade bread all the time. She said this is not the right tool for that and she would know. The length of cut is a little shorter than I would have liked but that is the difference between a 12" machine and the 10". It is a little cumbersome for general home use but as a meat processing hobbyist, it fills the slot quite nicely without hurting the wallet to much. Thumbs up

I got it for about $100 less than it costs now but it still is a good value. It does exactly what it supposed to do with little effort. Cleaning up takes about 1/2 hour as you have to take it apart but that is not so bad. To get the blade on it helps if you heat it in the oven at 200 for about ten minutes or so. It expands and will go back on the hub easily. After a few uses the heating is no longer necessary. Buy the food grade lube they suggest and lube the hub and all the screws and nuts for easy disassembly.

It's a great mid level meat slicer. Remember to always slice your meat at the correct temp.

Cut it thin to win
i'm not qualified to discuss durability as I just got this and used it only once. In the past I've used a small fold-up type slicer which performed poorly. People here have objected to the cleaning task. Frankly it was almost as difficult to disassemble my cheap and ineffective rival for cleaning as this thing. Moreover, I have never cleaned a Hobart or any other commercial slicer so I can't properly compare. it does take a little time to remove parts and clean, but my guess is that that is the case for most of the 10" models. I love the ease of slicing, the quality of the slice and the thinness. I won't be buying a dinky piece of meat and then slicing it - the cleanup is too much. But a 6 lb roast? Now you're taking. I just have to find a small forklift to haul this thing around. Perhaps my mother-in-law will do it!
