The materials of this hose are very durable. The electrical heating element is secured alongside the hose, away from the water, so it's safe. The hose feels warms when it's on. It's summer, but we tried filling a kid pool with the water from this hose, and although the hose felt warm, the water coming out felt just marginally warmer than it does with a normal hose. But maybe the water would come out this same temperature in cold weather too. Really well-made hose, well insulated.

We live in Arizona, but it isn't always warm. Temperature varies a lot by elevation, and Arizona is the most mountainous state in the lower 48. We live around 4500', and it definitely freezes here. A heated hose is the perfect solution. This one is drinking water safe, and is female on both ends, which is usually what you need. It does come with an adapter to convert one end to male if needed. This length is long enough to reach most anywhere we go, and still compact enough to store easily. We like it.
