I've been using 156 pint dehumidifier for a couple months now in my basement, and overall I'm happy with it after making a small modification. It removes humidity as it should, however the humidistat is either too sensitive or defective. Once the desired humidity is reached, the unit turns off as it should. However the humidity reading quickly jumps 4 or 5 percent and unit restarts within a half hour. Although it's in a large open area, the unit would cycle on and off at least 30-40 times per day. This can't bode well for the longevity of the unit. Instead I've plugged it into a smart plug and changed the setting to continuous dehumidification. I then set the smart plug to turn on for 9 hours at night when electricity costs are lower (I'm on time-of-use billing). In the month and a half of using the unit this way, I've kept my humidity in check, virtually eliminated unit cycling, and saved money on my electric bill. (FYI my unit uses a fairly consistent 4.25KWH in a 9 hour continuous use period)
