Regardless of how much a product does for you if it's difficult to use or setup chances are your not going to like having to use it. This product is very easy to understand and takes about 5 minutes to program. The first thing I did was plug it in and program the current time. There is no need to set the date as this door simply opens and closes once per 24 hours. You can have those two actions happen at a certain time or when it detects light (opening) and when it detects darkness (closing). In addition you can choose to have the door open at sun up or a time. you can do the same when the door closes. Your only other options are adjusting the sensitivity that the unit detects the sun. The video describes the unit in pretty good detail and demonstrates how the door functions, the \"anti chicken panic attack\" feature that will reverse the door if \"Crazy Louie\" decides to make a run for it, and how it mounts. NOTE: In the video I say the frame and door is plastic but that is incorrect. They are made of aluminum. Something to think about but is unavoidable is the unit can only be programed on site. Once you install it you can only program it where the unit is mounted. An improvement would be an associated APP so you could program it from a more comfortable position. NOTE: After setting up a sample program I unplugged it and left it for 24 hours. When re-connected to power it retained its settings. Cheers
