good beginner anvil
I have no idea what thickness and sheer essence mean 't care when they happen because its a cheap anvil! This can handle all of the work you're going to be doing as you learn. Once you've mastered the basics you can spend the money on another anvil.

Could use some quality control but a good Product overall
The product Is what you’d expect to get for the amount you pay. The anvil I received came in the blue finish that other similar models show. It had some rust in the hardy hole. The horn doesn’t have much of a ring to it but the face was perfectly flat and did have a nice ring all over. All in all I’d say this would suit anyone looking for something to get them started without breaking the bank.

Great value
I am a full time blade smith. I’ve had anvil for a little over 2 years. It sees heavy use. I’m forging 7-8 hours a day 6-7 days a weeks, and this is my only anvil.I don’t have a single complaint about it. The face has taken a couple of dimples from missed strikes, but they’re not even deep enough to transfer into my work piece. The edges are still crisp, the horn is functional.Good rebound on the face, the horn doesn’t rebound as well, but like I said, it’s functional. The cast steel design absorbs a lot of the ring associated with anvils, this makes it a great tool in the city, or where your shop is in close proximity to others.IMO it’s the best value for an anvil at this moment. To get a #66 anvil for less than 2 bills delivered isn’t gonna happen anywhere else

Great anvil
Been looking for an anvil for a couple of years. Either the good ones are toooo expensive, or the cheap ones are cast iron and too soft. This is a good tool for me, as a hobbyist and addition to my workshop. It’s no joke. Heavy, solid, and hard. Has a hardy hole and a pitcher hole. The thing sings when you are pounding metal. Very happy with this anvil.

The round hole isn't well placed
The location of the round hole on the horn, so close to the ~4mm step up to the face, makes the hole pretty awkward to use. As a Pritchel hole, it is too close to the step to provide full-round support for punching. As a round hardy hole, maybe you could locate against the step to control rotation, but otherwise the step is a problem. Because of the step, the best use of the hole is probably just for a hold-down. If you need hole for a punch, use a bolster plate over the square hole instead--that won't mess up your work.If the makers wanted to make the round hole useful, they should move it more onto the face, extend the face around the hole, or raise the horn to match the face and provide all-round support to the hole.
