My family went on a two-week trip that covered several hundred miles and three campsites and two hotels.
We brought meat raised on our ranch including beef, pork and lamb.
This fridge worked great. We plugged it into the 120v inverter built into our vehicle and kept it turned on while driving. On days that we didn't think we'd drive more than a few hours we turned the truck on and let it idol for many hours (doesn't really use that much gas BTW). The nights we stayed in a hotel we rolled it into our room and plugged it in.
The food stayed frozen, especially on the lower half. So we kept butter and other items that could defrost on the top. Putting some ice helped too, since it would freeze when turned on but sometimes thawed a little when the fridge wasn't on. You could also have just mixed in a few ice packs. Do remember though, that all meat should be in a zip lock back.
Bottom line, this was a great investment. Especially useful for short trips of a couple of days, but even if you go on an extended trip it'll be great if you plan ahead to keep things frozen. Also, for those who don't know better, it's OK to refreeze meat. I don't know where people get the idea that you can't but everything you buy in the store was frozen, thawed, and now you'll refreeze it.
