The canister wouldn’t hold water at first (yes, i removed the orange tab). Eventually I pried the o-ring on the base up flush using a plastic spoon, which did the trick (hopefully that helps somebody else). I assume it was damaged in shipping or the orange tab did some deformation to the o-ring. Otherwise, the espresso seems good quality.

I recently downsized and gifted my multi-thousand dollar Italian double-boiler machine to my daughter. When I saw this little unit I had to have it. It makes a great cup of espresso! My one and only complaint thus far is that it is advertised as "semi-automatic" but it's actually 100% manual. You must turn the knob back to the center position when the desired amount of coffee has been dispensed. There is no timer or setting to control the volume of water. If you fail to manually turn the knob it will continue to dispense water until the tank is empty (and you have coffee all over the countertop). That being said, I love this thing and will possibly get another one for my camper. I haven't had it long enough to speak to its durability and I don't add anything to my coffee so I'm not sure how good the frother is with milk but I tested it with cold water and it heated the water to steaming in no time at all.
