Choose between safety or efficiency
While this splitter does work as advertised, there is an issue regarding the blade. For splitting fresh-cut trees, it is horribly difficult with the blade as-is. The coating makes the blade dull and, while it works fine for old, dry wood and pre-split logs, newer logs are tough. This is easily rectified by removing the coating and sharpening the blade a bit, but it negates the "safety" aspect. Therefore, you will have to choose between efficient cutting (sharp blade) or safe cutting (coated blade).Overall, this is a good, heavy-duty splitter. You will simply need to determine whether a safe blade or and effective blade is more important to you.

Mount it before use
I mounted mine to a heavy stump and it works like a charm.

Great for the kids to "help"
The kids love banging wood thru this. It's sturdy, they can help split the firewood. Great bridge between "too dangerous" for the kids to help and them helping out. All kids love using a hammer and banging stuff. Total win.

Needs sharpened out of the box
I don't know how well this would work without sharpening. I sharpened mine before the first use. It works pretty well but makes a ringing noise that probably wouldn't be there if it was more solidly built (or used on a softer surface or maybe if it was bolted down). All in all though, for light use this is great for the price if you're ready to take tools to it to make the blade sharp.

Perfect!
This makes splitting logs easy and a one person job. The cover provided feels waterproof. The frame itself is heavy and thick, it will not get blown over.

It Works, Well Made
This works well & is well made. We mounted ours to a large chunk of wood that we used to use for splitting. You can use it without mounting but it will be frustrating & tippy. This really does make splitting small pieces of log into useful pieces for the fire.

Does a great job splitting firewood
I have to say that I was a little doubtful about whether this would be a really useful tool or another gimmick. Well, it works better than expected. It makes splitting logs for kindling easier and safer. The splitter is not sharp, but it has no problems splitting the firewood. Just set the piece of firewood with a tap and then use a mallet to hit it. Depending on the type of firewood and how well it's seasoned, it may take a few good whacks with the mallet to get it to split. I had no issues splitting the firewood - even really knotty pieces split. Yes, it took a little more effort, but it was much easier/safer than trying to split with a maul/ax.The splitter is stable and well made. It comes with a cover to protect it when not in use. It has screws in case you want to mount it on a log, so it's up off the ground. I'm just using it on my porch next to my firewood. I appreciate that I can split firewood with minimal effort with this tool.

Vevor wood splitter
Initially I was quite skeptical about buying this wood splitter. It is the knockoff of the Original Kindling Cracker, usually sold for about $150. Obviously for the price it's a good deal. I mounted two 16" 2x4s under each leg and it seems to work good as a base, plus you can use your foot to hold it down while you crack some kindling up. It does come across as quite "flimsy". Time will tell if it truly holds up. Hopefully it last a while

Small but mighty.
Much smaller than I was expecting it to be. Regardless of the size, it is all that my family needs for our tiny outdoor fireplace.
