I bought the 600 lb hoist to make sure I had plenty of capacity. The first time I used it, I had it on the shortest setting. As I swung the 300 lb load out of my truck the connection between the two pieces bent and the load fell to the ground with the hoist hitting me in the head. Extremely poor quality.

We plan to use the hoist this hunting season and fall season to process deer and hogs that we harvest. This will make it so much easier to load the animal onto the bed of the truck and increase the ease of processing.

This arrived on time, but in a mouse eaten box. This meant that some hardware was missing, but fortunately I can deal with the missing bolts myself. If you can't, you probably shouldn't be purchasing an engine hoist. It's cheap, but will do the tasks I need it for, and that's all I can ask.

Box arrived, I separated parts and assembled easily enough. On problem was that one of the four clevis pins was missing (a larger size than most in stores, but tolerable). The pump arm was missing as well, so I emailed (the wrong place but I was directed to the right place (sort of). I moved around a certain Byzantine effect, though folks were polite. They wanted pictures of what is missing (Which ought not to prove much since all one would have to do if lying was remove the pieces before taking the picture). End result was that I was sent a new everything with no need to return the old one (a good thing because these are heavy). So worked out.

So the product itself works great but when I returned home to find it on the porch I found a box that had been all but destroyed and as I was soon to find cap screws scattered from street to porch. I guess if you can’t find one at harbor freight go this route but be aware you may not get all the parts you need. The thing weighed a metric ton in the box and I’m sure the UPS guy hates my guys now. But again this thing worked to move a 1500 pound engine lathe so good buy I say.

I've purchased two of these Deer Hoists rated for 500 lbs. each, and this item is made of Heavy Duty construction, and very well suited for my needs.

I like the design and how easily it is to setup but it did not hold up to the advertised weight (picked up a 260lbs hog on the first try and it bent at the swivel so I had to add extra support in order to finish processing this hog) I will keep this product but I am definitely going to modify it and make it hold up to the advertised weight limits

I didn't need any instructions, although they are nice to get. If referencing product pictured don't. I have looked at similar products and no one mounts the hoist like they show in the picture. My biggest complaint about this product is at fully retracted shortest length there are holes drilled to assemble shorter than possible. Upper smaller tubing stops where the hoist mounts and there are holes in the tubing that are pointless, hurting the structural integrity of the lifting device. For that I give them 4 stars. At the current price ~100 I would highly recommend this lift regardless, seeing you could make the unit much stronger with some simple modifications.
