Fantastic price, great design and features and appears to be good materials and build quality - Variable speed increases torque as load is applied, reversing switch has a nice time delay, very little runout and good fit/finish. I was very impressed with the value... until I tried drilling the first hole. As soon as there was a load on the motor I got an electrical arc between the cutter and the steel plate I was drilling and sparks out of the motor brush housing. There is apparently an internal electrical fault that became apparently only under load, so understandable it made it through final QC testing. I'm hoping it was a one-in-a-million anomaly and have ordered another one to replace it while applying for a refund for the faulty one. I'll update my review when I get the replacement. I really WANT to love this tool!

All in All-Good
Good- Plenty of power, gets the job done. The variable speed is nice. Everything is adjustable. Good quality for the price. Not so good- Its bulky and heavy, not very portable or for tight spaces. The quick release arbor does not retain the chuck or cutters very well, they constantly fall out. All in all, a good mag drill.

This thing is incredible! I've used a Dewalt version at work that works well, but was much bigger and heavier. Also 4 times more expensive. I'm drilling 1-1/8 holes like nothing. The only complaint I could possibly have is that the lubricant hose leaks a little. Not a game changer though. Would recommend 5/5.

The best addition to my shop
My only regret is not getting this sooner. Incredible for any big operations especially if they don’t fit in a drill press. I used it to cut 100 3/4” holes in a 1/2” I-beam and I can’t imagine not having it. The bits it came with held up great. I never knew how easy drilling big holes could be! I’ve put it through the ringer and it still kicks butt every time

Nice for the price I would like to return it for one with variable speed, I did not know it was offered when I purchased it

Works well...very satisfied.
Received this mag drill several days earlier than expected and put it to use right away. First thing I noticed was the lube tubing had a sharp kink it it got worse as the drill head was lowered to the work piece. Not that big a deal since I have some leftover 1/4\" tubing from another project. A second thing I noticed was the annular cutter pin did not have a spring to help push out the slug once the hole had been drilled. I didn't notice this at first, and when I placed the drill for the next hole the drill actually skipped due to the first slug still remaining in the bit. Once I figured that out, every other hole went smoothly. One complaint I noticed with others was the chuck adapter wouldn't fit into the Nitto quick disconnect. I didn't have this problem...the chuck adapter went in just fine and locked into place. All in all, very satisfied with the purchase right now...did what it should. You may need to tighten the three screws that secure the drill to the standard...mine were loose enough that once I inserted the three handles the drill's weight would cause the head to lower itself. I haven't tried the lube reservoir yet, so can't comment on that.

Home shop metal worker.
This mage base drill was the best deal since the Louisiana Purchase. It's variable speed and reversible. The speed control is the set point of a control loop so torque isn't sacrificed when running at slower speeds. The regulated slower speed is a huge feature that helps with cutter life, especially on larger sizes. It came with the tools needed to keep it in adjustment. I drilled 441 holes through 5/8" plate to make my fixture table plus a number of other holes since I bought it. There are some things that could be a bit better, but in terms of value for a home shop metal worker it almost can't be improved.

Does what it’s supposed to do!
Works great, only flaw is the bits that come with it are definitely not the best. Used it to make a couple holes for a camper hold downs on my truck frame, perfect!! Besides the bits being sub standard, the only other thing that would make it better is a variable speed capability…..
