It heats up gradually but eventually gets water to a simmer. I mostly use it for gradually cooling agar in a media bottle.

Works great, and for a great price! It also doesn't take up a lot of counter space like some other machines do!

This item works exactly as described. It actually holds temperature. And: It is VERY easy to use. I'm very happy with it!

This is the cheapest price I have found for this particular stirrer. It has so many uses everyone should have one. Love it and recommend. Even though it doesn't have specific temperature numbers to dial in it works great. My advice is to take water sharpie and thermometer when first using to mark on the dial where boiling is, etc. Makes it much easier to set temp later

This is a great buy. Works just like it supposed to. Heating plate get hot fast and holds steady temps. Magnetic stirrer runs smooth. Vevor always makes great products, I have never been disappointed.

Works well in general, good value for the price. One complaint is that the stirrer is rather finicky, needing a flat bottom flask to function correctly. Have a much older version of the same model, looks identical but stirrer works with Ball type canning jars, slightly convex bottom. The new SH-2 just flops the peanut off to the side and there it flops around ineffectively.

Very satisfied with this. It works as expected.
