It works great , low priced and a great learner unit. For the small time personal user it is a good investment.

It works!
Silicone seals work. We love cooking, but however carefully you try, something can go south. Bad beer happens. With this you can make your own distilled water. Vinegar ... We hate waste! Read all you can about the process. When you're able to give it a try, enjoy, even your failures can be better than many commercially produced beverages.

nice quality equipment
I recently received the package and am using the large kettle for running a batch of mead. I washed the inside of the kettle, even though it looks completely clean, there could be oils associated with the fabrication process. It looks like the other included materials are well made and should work fine. The only negative is the thumper pot gasket is not permanently attached to the thumper lid. It appears that the silicon rubber gasket has shrunk and will need stretching to obtain an adequate seal. Please note that the kettle has a lid that is held down by clamps. if the vent line should plug, pressures could build inside the container. There is no pressure safety valve. It is your responsibility to make sure that there is a means for the kettle to vent vapors at all times as the kettle is not a pressure vessel.

Would have been 5 stars if
Would have been 5 stars but after just the second run the water pump quit working. And I lost a whole pot of product. Had to go buy a new pump at home depot for $20 more bucks. So if you get this product make sure you go somewhere and buy a extra pump just incase mid run your pump sent with it goes out.

I'm happy with it, my biggest problem is that it leaks at the joint's I've used plumbers putty to seal it

Product Specification is wrong
In the product specification, ( Included Components ) called it a thumper keg, it is a Slobber Box. there should be a copper tube for the input side to make it a thumper keg

Super easy and a great set up
Super easy to put together and even easier to use. I just upgraded from. 2.5 gallon copper onion top. I only wish I’d bought a larger size.

Definitely worth the money
Great little still. I ordered this and was slightly bent to where the lid wouldn't seal perfectly but built very well. I emailed them for a new replacement and wow it was delivered fast. Fast response. The box was slightly damaged so I'm guessing it happened during shipping. I was rather surprised how they handled the issue. Great customer service. Really happy that I ordered from them. For the price it's well worth it for the pot alone. I modify these anyways and make a larger worm pot but the parts from the worm pot condenser come apart so I can switch it out . Liquor comes out better with a 4 or five gallon worm with 20ft of copper instead of 2 feet. It works great left alone but you can always make it better. Lol

Great for starting out
Only complaint is the water pump is pretty poorly made and turns itself off and on. I had a different one so I'll just use that. Thumper is also missing a piece of tubing, I knew that from other reviews. Easy enough to obtain at a home improvement store.

Seemed like a gimmick, but it's incredibly powerful. Good first time still!
Works to both ferment and then later distill. This is a great starter kit. After your first batch you'll do good to purchase tools to measure sugar and alcohol content.I never experienced any problems with leaky seals once I stopped being lazy and used a wrench. I've made about 6 batches so far, friends are impressed and love it. Pump is a little strong but if you're doing this outside then it's not a big deal. After 1 or two batches I haven't used the thumper again, not really a good size for a thumper. Thermometer might be a bit off, but it's consistent which is the most important thing. What I didn't realize before I bought this was how long it takes! If you're just using bread yeast it might take 3 weeks to ferment and then 6 hours to distill, but getting 8 quarts out each run (4 of which are good enough quality to drink, the other 4 you put in the next batch) makes it worth it. I'll get the first quart at 140+ proof and stop around the 8th quart which is usually down to 40 proof.Very happy with my purchase, haven't bought liquor from the store since. The sky's the limit with this and if you're intrigued by the idea (or want to save money) this could do it for you. Highly recommend for a tinker or foodie. I've been having fun with infusions such as peach, charred oak, and ginger and fermented products from my house such as tomatoes, prickly pear, apples, potatoes.
