I first used the red light therapy on my calves, as they were sore from doing some fix-it jobs around the house. Even with one use, I could tell that they were already feeling better. I used it again the second day, and by the third day, I was no longer sore. Now I am using this on my face, but I think this is something that I will have to do long term before I can see some obvious benefits. Since I've used UV light therapy at my medical spa, I do know that it helps. Also, this has a stand, so you can use it upright (see photos), and position it at a slight angle. There are two light modes for this unit: red light and near infrared light. I have been using both each time, but you can also just use one or the other. The red light emits a little bit of heat, but surprisingly, the unit itself never gets hot (there are also built-in fans). If you are using this on your face, you will want to wear the goggles. If you are using it elsewhere on the body, I wouldn't worry about it, as long as you are not staring at it. One feature I would love to see added is a timer. That would be very useful. Also, the power cord is a bit short, and you may find that you have to use an extension cord.
