I've been using this cutter almost daily for a couple months, and it's been going great so far. I found my ideal speed and pressure, and the software was super simple to use. I didn't even need to read the instructions, personally. On top of that, it seems highly serviceable, even for a hobbyist techie like myself. I've done shirts, boards and all kinds of stuff with it.
I use this for production. No mechanical or electrical issues. Purchased this specific machine because it has 16MB of RAM, others have only 2MB of RAM.
The SignMaster ("Cut: Basic Edition") is simple and works just fine. No reason to upgrade. Free online vector conversion utilities can be used to turn your .bmp, .png, .jpg etc into .ai files (vector format)
Tons of free fonts online too, it's really just a matter if choosing what you want.
I've added a cooling fan for the power supply and motherboard plus a light that goes across the entire path of the cutting head so that work may be inspected/observed while in progress.
