Can i use this machine to boil edible liquids at low temperatures? Can one place the container on a hot plate? Is the lid glass?
Answer This Question
You're actually not supposed to do that, but it works. Anything you evacuate from the chamber, liquids, vapour etc has to pass through the oil in the pump and the oil gets contaminated. The lid is only acrylic so too much heat will damage it. Although saying that, any liquid in the chamber will also damage the acrylic lid too. You can buy vacuum chambers with glass, you should look for one of those. Any buy some extra vacuum oil, because you'll need to change it frequently.

Wicked good
Used it to boil moisture out of hydraulic oil. Ran it full out for days. Changed oil a bunch on the compressor but it did it’s job wicked good. I bought the 5 gal bucket heater and used that on the stainless pot. Works mint

2.5 CFM Vacuum Pump
Bought this 2.5 cfm vacuum pump for doing lay up work on a RC airplane fuselage. The pump works as expected however the oil that was provided with the pump misted and smoked severely. After two or three uses the oil level was low enough to effect performance. I ordered vacuum pump from HD but it was out of stock, not wanting to wait I had a Bottle of NAPA hydraulic jack oil hand, seems to be 10 weight, gave it a try, no smoke or mist, the pump does leak a little oil out of exhaust but it is not big deal, overall I like it. The low quality is based solely on the oil supplied.

First time using this type equipment. Rated at 4 stars but have encountered no issues with the equipment yet. Used to stabilize wood and have stabilized four times since purchase. No issues with the operation at this time. Satisfied with purchase, shipping, and company. Would purchase again.

I used it for the first time today. PROS: * It was very easy to setup IF you don't use the included manual. Head to Youtube for instructions. *It worked. *Appears to be high quality. *Very quiet pump. CONS: *There were no instructions for adding the oil, assembling the pressure gauge, or snipping the plug on top of the gauge. *Oil container did not have enough oil to fill the pump. When I asked about it, I was told to go buy some #46 pump oil. I knew there wouldn't be enough after viewing several YouTube videos. I used it to degauss the epoxy resin before pouring it. It worked perfectly. There were no bubbles in the pour. I vacuumed three times, each time torching off the bubbles. On the third time, I added color, torched off the bubbles, and poured into the mold. I would give the manual and assembly instructions a ONE STAR, but that is not totally fair for the overall rating, because it does appear to be high quality and works well with little effort. I would recommend the chamber, just not the documentation.
